Design a pathfinder (This could be used as a lit lesson or as an instruction tool for colleagues)
Egypt History
The link above will take you to a google site I designed for a teacher to use as a pathfinder. Obviously it's still a work in progress. In retrospect, I would probably make this site his main teacher page, and just devote ONE of the pages to being the pathfinder. I may remake it later if I have time to do exactly that. Having never worked with google sites before, it took me hours just to figure out how to remove some of the pages and add new ones in. A training on how to create your own google site, add and edit pages, embed links, read student comments, etc. would be very helpful if the staff is encouraged to host their own pages.
A site that I've also found to be a bit more easy to manage is Weebly.com. I may try to create a pathfinder on here this summer too, time providing.
Since writing the entry above, I created a very brief look at a pathfinder on Weebly, and I like it a lot more. Here is the link: http://sentinelsocialstudies.weebly.com/
Again, there isn't much to it yet, but I set it up in a matter of minutes last night, which just shows you how easy it is to create. I could easily turn this into an instructional lesson for the staff at the school I work at.
